From the
deepest ocean trench to the tallest mountain, plate tectonics explains the
features and movement of the Earth's surface in the present and the past. Plate boundary is where two plate tectonic meet. There are #3 types of
plate boundaries; the first type of plate boundary is Convergent boundary, this
type of plate boundary moves toward each other. There are some features that created
in this type of boundary, the first feature is mountain and this formed when
two Continental Plates collide which mean come together, there is one example
of mountain that created in convergent boundary which is Himalayas Mountains. There
are 4 types of mountains; the first type is Dome Mountain, this kind of
mountain formed when magma comes up and pushes the ground then the mountain
will form. The second type is fault Black Mountain and this kind of mountain
formed when two continentals moving in the opposite direction which is a
divergent plate boundary as the result of that the fault black mountain will
form. The third type is Volcanic Mountain, this kind of mountain formed as the
result of the volcano when the volcano dead. The last type is Folded Mountain,
this kind of mountains formed as the result of the pressure. The second feature
is trench and this formed when the oceanic will be denser than the continental
and come underneath it and form a hole, this hole called “trench”, there is one
example of trench that created in convergent boundary which is Mariana Trench.
When the underground become hotter, volcanoes will formed, there are #3 types
of volcanoes which are Strato-Volcano it caused by the result of explosive when
lava comes up and cools at the layers. Cinder Cone Volcano, during the
eruption, some of the lava, blown into the air, breaks into small parts that
fall around the opening to the volcano. Shield Volcano it caused by fluid lava
flows. Hot-Spot is a place within the mantle; Hawaiian Hot-Spot is real world
example of Hot-Spot. The third feature in this plate boundary is Deep-Sea
Trench, when one oceanic will be denser than the other and become under it, as
the result of that Deep Sea Trench will form. Japan is a real world example of
Deep-Sea Trench! Convergent Boundary has another part which is Subdaction Zone
which is where continental and oceanic plate meet and this zone has some
features which are volcanic, and island arc; volcanic arc cause the island arc
to form such as Southern Aegean Volcanic Arc! The area that has most of the
volcanoes in the world is in the pacific plate and it called “The Ring of
Fire”. The
second plate boundary is Divergent boundary; divergent plate boundaries are
located where plates are moving away from each other. Plates move apart to
produce gaps which are molten lava. This occurs above rising convection
currents. This current pushes up on the bottom of the lithosphere, lifting it
and flowing beneath it. There are some future in this plate boundary; the first
feature is rift valley; when the force of separating continent the continental
crust start to move apart slowly and pushes magma into rift formed between
continents. The Great Rift Valley in Africa is Real world example of rift
valley. The second feature is Mid-Ocean Ridge; when oceanic plates move apart
they cause cracks in the ocean lands. Then the magma start to make its way up
than, it cools down. When the magma cools down it build up a Mid-Ocean Ridge.
Mid-Atlantic Ridge is the real life example of Mid-Ocean Ridge; Mid-Atlantic
Ridge runs through Atlantic Ocean from Arctic Ocean to an area off the southern
tip of South America. The
third type of plate boundaries is transform plate boundary and this kind of
plate boundary moves in the opposite direction along each other. There are some
feature in this type of boundary; the first feature is earthquake which happen
when rocks break down and natural shake happen in the Earth which is
Continental-Continental, there are a lot of example of earthquake such as the
earthquake that happen in Japan 2011 and the earthquake that happened in Egypt
1996. The second feature is linear fault valley and it happened at Oceanic-Continental such
as San-Andreas Fault. And the last feature in this plate boundary is tsunami
and it happened as the result of earthquake and it happened under the ocean
which is Oceanic-Oceanic such as the tsunami that happened in Japan 2011! In
conclusion, plate boundary is part of our lives and it also run our lives and
we should know more about it because it has most or even all of the natural
disasters that happening in the world!
